Regarding "Housing Manager Criticized" (Metro, Feb. 21):
First, I love the county I reside in; I admire our county government, including Sheriff Gee and the services available and provided.
However, in the real world a loss of $3 million to the bottom line, and someone gets fired! Instead of a public tongue-lashing someone should be held accountable and be certain this does not get repeated.
It's apparent many people who thought "we were saving money" voted to pass Amendment 1 so now we must scrutinize every penny we spend or carelessly lose. Had we been scrutinizing all along and "balancing the check book," maybe we could afford another loss due to an "oversight" or the "predecessor's fault."
To quote from the article, " 'Several years ago, decisions were made by somebody that caused us to be out of compliance,' Bean said. She said she was not sure who was responsible." Seems to me someone knew we were going to come up short.
Shameful!
