TAMPA -- Two men with weapons robbed a Wendy's in South Tampa of nearly $800 on Sunday night, police say.

One was caught; the other remains on the loose, according to a Tampa Police Department report.

About 9:19 p.m., two men entered Wendy's at 4314 W. Gandy Blvd.

Donald Doctor, a 25-year-old former Wendy's employee, pulled out what was later determined to be a fake plastic gun, police say.

The other person pulled out a knife, the arrest report states. They directed Wendy's employees into a walk-in cooler. The store's manager, Jasmine Jones, refused to give the men money, but they snatched $798 off her desk, police said.

Jones told police Doctor once worked for Wendy's.

Police found the men riding bicycles east in the 4100 block of W. Pearl Ave., a report states. When officers tried to stop them, Doctor ran and the other man pedaled away.

Officers found Doctor in some brush, and he became combative when being taken into custody, according to the report. An officer used a Taser, but the probes didn't make contact because of the thick brush.

Doctor inadvertently was struck on the mouth with a flashlight by an officer who came to help, the report states.

Doctor had most of the money that was taken from Wendy's, the report states. It was still paperclipped in bundles.

While being detained, Doctor told an officer, "If these handcuffs weren't on me, I'd kill you," a criminal arrest affidavit states.

Doctor's criminal arrest affidavit mentions a "plastic fake gun" taken as evidence, and no other gun was found.

Doctor, of 3801 Wallace Ave., was charged with armed robbery, false imprisonment, resisting arrest with violence and threatening a public official.

He remains in Orient Road Jail today. His bail had not been set.
