CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Tyler Hansbrough had 29 points to help keep third-ranked North Carolina at the top of the Atlantic Coast Conference standings with an 89-73 win against Wake Forest on Sunday night.

Wayne Ellington added 17 points for the Tar Heels, who won their fourth straight in the series and fifth in a row overall. Danny Green added 15 points to help North Carolina (26-2, 11-2) move a half-game ahead of idle Duke.

North Carolina shot 56 percent, including 7-for-14 from 3-point range and 26-for-34 from the foul line.

James Johnson scored 22 points for the Demon Deacons (16-9, 6-6), who were within two points late in the first half before the Tar Heels steadily pulled away. Wake Forest was playing for the first time since last weekend's 86-73 upset of the then-No. 2 Blue Devils, easily the program's biggest victory since Chris Paul left early for the NBA three years ago.

Hansbrough turned in another stellar performance, going 9-for-13 from the field and 11-for-14 from the line.

XAVIER 57, DAYTON 51: Josh Duncan scored 14 points, and Drew Lavender made four free throws in the final 35 seconds as No. 10 Xavier beat host Dayton (17-9, 5-8 Atlantic 10).

It was the Musketeers' 10th straight win and assured them of at least a share of the Atlantic 10 championship.

Lavender finished with nine points for Xavier (24-4, 12-1).

WISCONSIN 58, OHIO STATE 53: Jason Bohannon came off the bench to score 16 points and No. 11 Wisconsin relied on its stout defense to hold off host Ohio State.

The victory kept the Badgers (23-4, 13-2) tied with Purdue and Indiana for the Big Ten lead.

Wisconsin used a late 9-0 run to take the lead and then held Ohio State (17-10, 8-6) without a point for the final 3:15.

LOUISVILLE 75, PITTSBURGH 73: David Padgett made three of four free throws in the final 32.1 seconds and No. 18 Louisville moved back into a first-place tie in the Big East, holding on to beat host Pittsburgh for its seventh consecutive victory.

Padgett finished with 21 points and reserve Edgar Sosa had 15 of his 18 points in the first half as Louisville (22-6, 12-3) regained a share of the conference lead with No. 12 Georgetown (22-4, 12-3) and became the first visiting team to win twice at Pitt since the Petersen Events Center opened in 2002.

Sam Young and DeJuan Blair scored 20 points each for Pitt (19-8, 7-7).

NOTRE DAME 94, SYRACUSE 87: Kyle McAlarney made a school-record nine 3-pointers to finish with 30 points and 21st-ranked Notre Dame beat visiting Syracuse.

Syracuse (17-11, 7-8 Big East), which trailed by as many as 16 points in the second half, closed to 78-72 on Arinze Onuaku's slam dunk with 4:04 left, capping an 8-2 spurt where he scored six points. But Luke Harangody, who had 14 points and 14 rebounds, quickly scored a pair of baskets to help the Irish (21-5, 11-3) regain control.

HONORING SAMPSON: Montana Tech has no plans to change the name of its new basketball court, despite recent allegations against its namesake, former Indiana coach Kelvin Sampson, Athletic Director Joe McClafferty said. Sampson started his college coaching career at Montana Tech.
