TAMPA -- The head of the city's risk management department resigned Sunday, one day after the Tribune wrote about his workers' complaints against him.
In his letter, Bill Cody said his resignation was effective immediately.
Several workers in the city's risk management department filed a formal complaint against their boss on Friday, accusing him of threatening and intimidating his employees. Cody told the Tribune late Friday that he had apologized to his employees and was seeking counseling through the employee assistance program.
Cody made about $89,000 annually with the city. He was hired in July after leaving a job in College Station, Texas, in February 2007.
Letters in his College Station personnel file indicate his boss had problems with him, but Tampa officials did not review his personnel file before hiring him, Human Resources Director Kimberly Crum said.
