Pinellas deputies are searching for a man they suspect burglarized six homes in the Seminole area and four in Largo.
The Seminole burglaries happened between Jan. 22 and Monday. The homes are within a mile of the intersection of 102nd Avenue and 113th Street in Seminole.
The man is also suspected of committing four similar burglaries in Largo since Jan. 23, Largo police said. These crimes happened just south of Ulmerton Road near Old Ridge.
During the most recent burglary Monday, a hidden surveillance system captured video of the man as he placed athletic socks on his hands, Pinellas sheriff's officials said.
Detectives say the man kicked in the front door of the homes during the day while the owners are at work. Once inside, he rummaged through drawers, taking cash, jewelry and small electronics, deputies said.
Largo police found surveillance video of the man using stolen debit cards taken from one of the burglaries to purchase diapers, beer and other groceries with a woman.
The man is described as a white, in his mid-20s to early 30s, about 180 pounds and 6 feet tall. He is balding with brown hair, wears eyeglasses, and at the time of the latest burglary was unshaven.
The woman is described as white and in her mid- to late 20s, with long, brown hair down to her waist.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Ward Snyder of the Pinellas sheriff's office at (727) 582-6200 or Largo police Detective B. Arlington at (727) 587-6728, or to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS.
