ST. PETERSBURG - A 22-year-old man was extradited from North Carolina over the weekend to face charges in the sexual assault of a girl he was babysitting in St. Petersburg on Thanksgiving, according to Pinellas County court records unsealed Monday.
Charles Dodson, who was booked Saturday into the Pinellas County Jail, faces two counts of capital sexual battery. His bail was set at $200,000.
The girl was younger than 12 at the time, court records say. Her age was not given.
Dodson was babysitting the girl and the girl's sibling when he offered her candy but "indicated she would have to do something to get that candy," court records say.
After Dodson was finished, he gave the girl the candy and told her not to tell anyone, records say.
The next day, the girl's mother asked her about the candy in her possession, and the girl told her mother about the sexual acts, the court records say.
