TAMPA - TAMPA - If you lost power Tuesday, either because of the storms or from the widespread blackout from problems with the state's electricity grid, be sure to check your lawn sprinkler system's automatic timer.
The Tampa Water Department said irrigation controllers without battery backup power often revert to the factory setting when the electricity fails.
A reset timer could turn the sprinkler on during the wrong watering day and violate Tampa's once-per-week watering rule.
Tampa restricts watering to once a week, based on address.
Addresses ending in an even number or letters A-M can water on Tuesdays. Addresses ending in an odd number or letters N-Z can water on Sundays.
