LAND O' LAKES - A pharmacy was robbed shortly after a robbery attempt at a nearby pharmacy Friday night, and detectives still were trying to determine Wednesday whether the robbers were the same person.
A man entered the Walgreens at 22824 State Road 54 at 7:45 p.m. and placed a note on the counter demanding prescription drugs, a Pasco County Sheriff's Office report states. The pharmacy technician told the man she wasn't the pharmacist and didn't have the keys to get the medication. Someone took the note from the robber, who grabbed it back and ran out of the store.
The man was described as age 25 to 30 with short brown hair, about 6 feet tall, and 190 to 200 pounds. He wore a brown hat and possibly a white shirt and blue jeans.
Less than 30 minutes later, a man looking similar to the Walgreens suspect approached the pharmacy in the back of the CVS at 2322 Land O' Lakes Blvd. and placed a crumbled piece of paper demanding medication on the counter, a sheriff's report states. After the technician smoothed out the note and read it, she told the man she didn't have authorization to dispense such medicine and that the pharmacist was on a lunch break, according to the report When the robber started to frighten her, however, she handed over what he wanted.
The CVS robber was described as age 20 to 23, about 6 feet tall and 210 pounds. He had freckles, and wore an orange shirt, tan cap, and possibly tan shorts and black sneakers.
Detectives say the robbers could be the same person considering the descriptions and timing of the holdups, sheriff's office spokesman Doug Tobin said.
