Cullimore Wins It In OT For Panthers
UNIONDALE, N.Y. - Jassen Cullimore's goal 1:37 into overtime gave the Panthers a 4-3 victory over the Islanders, snapping a three-game losing streak. Cullimore ripped a slap shot from the left circle into the top right corner of the net for his first goal of the season. The win gave Florida coach Jacques Martin his 498th NHL coaching victory, putting him in sole possession of 10th place on the all-time win list for head coaches. He surpassed Glen Sather. PENGUINS 6, MAPLE LEAFS 2: Evgeni Malkin had his first NHL three-goal game as Pittsburgh put the game away with three goals in 48 seconds early in the third period for a season-best five game winning streak. BRUINS 2, CAPITALS 0: Tim Thomas stopped 31 shots for his first shutout this season and Marc Savard broke a scoreless tie in the second period for Boston. PREDATORS 5, OILERS 2: Alexander Radulov scored two goals and Dan Ellis stopped a penalty shot, leading Nashville in a matchup of last-place teams. WILD 6, STARS 3: Marian Gaborik scored twice, Pierre-Marc Bouchard added a goal and two assists and Brent Burns had three assists to lead Minnesota. AVALANCHE: Forward Ryan Smyth has a broken right ankle and will miss up to eight weeks.
