Armwood two-way lineman Matt Patchan chose the University of Florida to play at the next level. Patchan made his announcement at The Club in Tampa Palms ending speculation on where the heavily recruited prospect would play next season.
As his final high school football season wound down, Patchan narrowed his choices to Florida and Miami. The Hurricanes appeared to have a slight advantage given the fact Patchan's father played there. Florida made a late surge, including sending several coaches to the Hawks playoff game against Washington High in Miami last month.
Patchan, an All-USA Today first team selection, was supposed to be playing in the prestigious U.S. Army All-American Bowl game today, but a recent bout of mononucleosis prevented him from playing.
