TAMPA - A 30-year-old Hillsborough County man was arrested Saturday on charges of attempted murder after he choked and beat his ex-wife, authorities said.
James Edward Nettles of 13643 Highway 672, Balm, was also charged with child abuse because the couple's juvenile son was at his mother's side during the attack and was shoved several times during the domestic altercation, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office report states.
According to the report of the 8:30 a.m. incident, Nettles choked the woman until she nearly lost consciousness, then threw her against a window, which shattered, causing two lacerations on the back of her right calf. Nettles then dragged her into the kitchen and stomped on her head multiple times, yelling, "I will kill you," the report states.
The names and ages of the victims, and the exact address of the woman's Balm residence where the domestic disturbance occurred were withheld by authorities.
Nettles is being held without bond in the Orient Road Jail.
