Britney Spears was derailed yet again in her struggle to get her life back on track, losing custody of her two sons to ex-husband Kevin Federline. A Los Angeles court commissioner Friday gave sole physical and legal custody of the former couple's two boys to Federline and suspended the troubled pop star's visitation rights.
Spears was hauled away from her home to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center by paramedics a day before, after police had to intervene when she refused to return the children to Federline.
Hospital spokeswoman Simi Singer wouldn't confirm or deny reports in entertainment media that Spears would be held for 72 hours for psychological evaluation.
Commissioner Scott Gordon ordered another hearing to be held Jan. 14. Federline had been awarded temporary custody of 2-year-old Sean Preston and 1-year-old Jayden James because Spears has defied court orders, resulting in limitations on her visitation.
The 26-year-old pop star remained hospitalized Friday.
Actors Won't Cross Picket Lines For Golden Globes
Golden Globe-nominated actors are expected to snub the awards in support of striking Hollywood writers, the actors union said Friday, jeopardizing one of the entertainment industry's signature showcases.
NBC, however, said it was sticking by its plans to air the Jan. 13 ceremony, despite the uncertainty about how much - if any - star power the Globes could muster.
Screen Actors Guild President Alan Rosenberg made the announcement. "There appears to be unanimous agreement that these actors will not cross" the picket lines to present or accept an award, he said in a statement.
Stills Recovering After Prostate Surgery
Stephen Stills, who had surgery for prostate cancer on his 63rd birthday, will remain hospitalized until today, his publicist said Friday. "Stephen ... is doing extremely well. Doctors wanted to keep him in for an extra night," publicist Michael Jensen said.
Stills had hoped to be released on Friday.
Stills, of Crosby, Stills & Nash (and sometimes with Neil Young), had the operation Thursday in Los Angeles, his wife Kristen said in a statement.
Stills is scheduled for a North American tour this spring in support of his recent "Just Roll Tape" album.
Star Honors Late, Bewitching Actress
A posthumous star honoring "Bewitched" star Elizabeth Montgomery was unveiled on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in a rainy Friday ceremony.
Montgomery portrayed a witch trying to live as a housewife from 1964 into the early 1970s.
She died in 1995 at age 62. Among those attending the ceremony was her widower, actor Robert Foxworth. "It is a great tribute to her that there are so many of you here," he said during the ceremony.
