NEW PORT RICHEY - The Pasco Regional/New Port Richey chapter of the Florida Writers Association will welcome Philip Levin, president of the Gulf Coast Writers Association in Gulfport, Miss., veteran emergency room doctor and suspense writer as a guest speaker today at the New Port Richey Public Library.

The free session will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the library, 5939 Main St.

Levin will discuss his suspense novel, "The Inheritance," as well as his 30 years' experience as an emergency room physician.

"Phil has lived in the Gulfport area for the past five years. During Hurricane Katrina, he was the on-duty emergency room physician coordinating care for the major trauma center on the Gulf Coast," wrote Dahris Clair, president of the Pasco Regional/New Port Richey chapter of FWA.

"He's been a medical examiner in Virginia, the attending physician for the NASCAR races in Martinsville, Va., spent 15 years as coordinator for advanced cardiac life support in Virginia and Mississippi, and has been a medical missionary in Honduras and at a malaria clinic in Peru."

"The Inheritance," published in March, is an adventure story centered around a journalist heroine. The 252-page book, published by iUniverse Inc., is available at Amazon.com. A sample chapter is available at www.gc writers.org.

Levin has addressed audiences in North Carolina, Virginia and Georgia, as well as in China and South America.

The public is invited and refreshments will be served.

For information, call Ann Scott, New Port Richey library events and outreach director, at (727) 853-1265, or Dahris Clair at (727) 847-2023.
