GAINESVILLE - University of Florida receiver/tight end Cornelius Ingram's brother refuted Friday a story by Yahoo! Sports that quoted Ingram as saying he would skip his senior season. Greg Bowie, Ingram's brother and former basketball coach, told The Gainesville Sun that Ingram has yet to make up his mind.
Bowie told the paper Ingram had not given any interviews. Yahoo! quoted Ingram as saying, "It was just my time."
Florida spokesman Steve McClain said Friday night that, to his knowledge, Ingram had not informed Florida's coaching staff of his decision. Gators coach Urban Meyer did not respond to a text message Friday seeking comment.
Bowie told the Sun that Ingram was projected as a second- or third-rounder by the NFL's draft advisory council. Ingram said last month he intended to leave if he was projected to be taken in the first three rounds. After the Gators' Capital One Bowl loss to Michigan on Tuesday, Ingram said he planned to make his decision this week. Underclassmen have until Jan. 15 to declare for the draft.
