HUDSON - Hudson High School is throwing an invitation-only party to mark its 35th anniversary next month.
Behind the gala is Michelle Williams, a Hudson High School graduate and one of its assistant principals.
"We have several staff members who have been here from the beginning," she said. "I thought that with Pasco growing so much and everyone spread out over the county, we should provide the opportunity for people to come back and get together."
The dinner and dance for current and former teachers and other staff members will take place Feb. 22 at Spartan Manor in New Port Richey.
Williams has been talking up the event and using the Internet to get the word out. Hudson High has a Web site for former teachers and students at alumniclass.com/ hudson.
Williams started at Hudson High as a math teacher in 1986 and became assistant principal six months ago. Although the school has changed a lot since her days as a student, what hasn't changed is its supportive environment, she said.
"We are very much community-centered and family-oriented," Williams said. "Many of the students we serve are students whose parents and grandparents went here."
Maybe that's why people seem to be excited about the upcoming reunion.
"The reaction I've been getting is overwhelmingly exciting," Williams said.
