PORT ST. LUCIE - Internet traffic is going to be heavy this week if an egg hatches from a tree in a Port St. Lucie community.
Lynda White, EagleWatch Program coordinator for Audubon of Florida, said a video camera installed in 2006, allows eagle watchers are keeping an eye on the nest through the Internet. The eagles are in the Tesoro neighborhood for the winter.
And things are looking good for a hatch this year after two failed attempts.
The eagles have been busy since September. One mother laid an egg December seventh. White says that egg should hatch this week.
If so, watchers can see the eagles feeding the eaglet at first, and the youngster will pop its head into view later.
