•Run, Run, Run: That means a big game by Ohio State's offensive line and sophomore RB Chris "Beanie" Wells (1,463 yards). Don't put the game in the hands of junior QB Todd Boeckman, who wobbled down the stretch.
•Win The Mind Games: Ohio State quietly has embraced its underdog role, much like it did in the 2003 Fiesta Bowl win against Miami. By all accounts, the Buckeyes have had much better preparation than last season's 41-14 crushing loss to Florida.
•Play Physical: The Buckeyes need to rough up LSU's receivers, spring a few blitzes and unleash DE Vernon Gholston (13 sacks), who potentially could become the game's most dominant factor.
•Start Fast: If the Tigers pull ahead early, the Superdome could have the atmosphere of an LSU home game. Ohio State's will, already tested by the doubters, could be severely challenged.
•Show Stability: LSU coach Les Miles is known as a gambler, a man who plays hunches and doesn't hesitate to take chances on fourth down. Warning! Warning! In a championship setting, a failed gamble could snowball in the other direction.
•Speed Kills: Everyone talks about LSU's speed advantage. Well, now the Tigers must exploit it. Determined RB Jacob Hester (204 carries, 1,017, 11 touchdowns) has been the money man, but LSU must get more touches for Keiland Williams (68 carries, 6.7-yard average) and Trindon Holliday (50 carries, 7.0-yard average).
