A 25-year-old Dover woman who claimed to have been kidnapped Sunday night outside a Dover taco stand has recanted her story, Hillsborough County deputies say.
Marisol Ramirez-Hernandez returned home Tuesday night after being dropped off by friends, detectives said. During questioning, Ramirez-Hernandez at first told detectives she'd been kidnapped by five men.
Shortly after, she recanted her story and told detectives she made arrangements to meet a man. The woman left with her friend and spent the night with him in Lakeland.
The incident began when Ramirez-Hernandez and her cousin walked to the taco stand to buy some food about 8 p.m. Sunday. They went inside the screened area of the stand on the north side of the Prime Time Convenience store at 3185 Dover Road.
Ramirez-Hernandez walked out to use her cell phone.
That's when her cousin, 19-year-old Naciso Roque, heard her scream, a sheriff's office statement says. When he walked out, he saw a dark blue or green minivan leaving the parking lot and heading south on Dover Road.
Ramirez-Hernandez's family had told deputies she has been known to stay out nights, but that she generally talks to them the next day. She did not contact her family.
