Ruskin Man Killed Himself In Library, Authorities Say

A Ruskin man committed suicide Sunday at SouthShore Regional Library in Sun City Center, officials said.

At 4:30 p.m., a library patron saw a man lying on the floor in a restroom stall, Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Debbie Carter said.

The patron alerted a staff member, who sent another staff member in to check.

Based on witness accounts, investigators think Thomas H. Weeber, 66, went to the library at 15816 Beth Shields Way and walked directly into the men's restroom, Carter said.

He fired a single shot from a small-caliber handgun, she said.

Weeber left a note at the scene, but Carter declined to reveal what it says.

Weeber lived in Irongate apartments on Blair Castle Circle. Property management staff said they were not aware of and expressed surprise over Weeber's death.
