TAMPA - A 21-year-old man wanted for aggravated assault on an officer in Miami Beach was arrested here Tuesday, U.S. marshals said.
Michael Barnes was arrested at 9:15 p.m. at the Greyhound Lines bus station in downtown Tampa.
Barnes had led Miami Beach police on a high-speed chase, tried to run over an officer with his vehicle and injured the officer, U.S. marshals said. Barnes was out on bail in a case involving aggravated assault with a weapon on a law enforcement officer in Broward County.
Before being caught in Tampa, Barnes led Georgia's Glynn County Sheriff's Office and Brunswick, Ga., police and U.S. marshals on a high-speed chase.
In Tampa, Barnes was able to elude authorities at Jones Avenue near Waters Avenue. He was caught hours later at the bus station.
