ST. PETERSBURG - A 16-year-old girl attending Northeast High School was arrested Tuesday on charges she used a box cutter to slash two female students after the three got off a school bus, police say.
Quanisha N. Ealy was charged with two counts of aggravated battery and taken to the Pinellas County Juvenile Assessment Center, said St. Petersburg Police Department spokesman George Kajtsa.
The injured girls are sisters, Kajtsa said. One, Jacara Williams, 15, a sophomore, was cut on the upper left arm; the other, Larhonda R. Williams, 14, a freshman, was cut on the right breast, he said.
A witness took the two girls to All Children's Hospital after the 2:20 p.m. attack at 27th Avenue South and Seventh Street, Kajtsa said. A social worker at the hospital notified police.
The witness picked Ealy out of a photograph lineup.
On Tuesday morning, while riding the bus to school, the sisters had spoken with Ealy about a boy being related to someone, Kajtsa said. One of the sisters told authorities they didn't give it much thought until the ride home, when Ealy threatened one or both of them, Kajtsa said.
Ealy had the box cutter when she was detained, authorities said.
