Tampa Police: Wife Used Bat To Whack Husband

TAMPA - Shadana Anjeanette Ortega hit her husband in the head with a wooden baseball bat this morning after he called her a profane name, Tampa police say.

Police arrested the 34-year-old at 12:47 a.m. and charged her with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Her husband, Wallace Peaseant, had a cut on his head, a criminal arrest affidavit says. He declined medical treatment after being told he needed to go to the hospital and get stitches.

Peaseant told police he and his wife were arguing about her drinking, and she got mad after he called her a "nasty skank bitch," according to the report.

"Shadana went on to say that they have had an abusive marriage, and he has hit her in the past so she was not going to give him the chance this time," the report says.

Ortega, of 8105 N. Ninth St., Apartment A, remained in Orient Road Jail today. Her bail had not been set.
