SEMINOLE - Five people were slightly injured when a sport utility vehicle rear-ended a school bus at 102nd Avenue and 113th Street about 6:40 a.m. today, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.
And less than two hours later, at 86th Avenue and Seminole Boulevard, a school bus struck the rear of a sport utility vehicle, and the driver of the SUV was slightly injured, Sgt. Jim Bordner said.
In the first wreck, the sport utility vehicle drove into the back of a bus that had stopped for a red light, Bordner said. There were 18 students on the bus, which was on its way to Osceola High School. There also were two adults onboard.
The driver of the sport utility vehicle was transported by ambulance to Bayfront Medical Center; the bus driver and two students were taken to Largo Medical Center; and another adult on the bus was taken to Suncoast Hospital, Bordner said.
None of the injuries was considered life-threatening, he said.
In the second crash, at 8:30 a.m., a school bus struck the rear of an SUV as the driver of the sport utility vehicle was slowing for a yellow light, Bordner said.
There were no students on this bus, and the bus driver was not injured, Bordner said. The driver of the SUV was taken to Largo Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, Bordner said.
