PLANT CITY – There will be a service Feb. 2 in memory of John McCaughey, a former legislative aide and college administrator.
John McCaughey
McCaughey, who died of heart failure Dec. 17, was senior district secretary for Rep. Rich Glorioso, R-Plant City. He was 67.
McCaughey's wife, Susan, and her family, are inviting the public to attend the celebration of McCaughey's life from 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 2 at the John R. Trinkle Center at Hillsborough Community College, 1206 N. Park Road.
"We would be honored if you would join us in celebrating John's life, sharing memories of an altruistic, gentle man with a big heart and an even bigger sense of humor," his family says in a written invitation announcing the event.
McCaughey, former dean of student services at Hillsborough Community College's Plant City campus, had a heart attack and never regained consciousness, Glorioso said.
McCaughey joined Glorioso's team three years ago after the former Plant City commissioner won his first term in the House.
"You couldn't ask for a better person. He had a huge heart," Glorioso said.
