WESLEY CHAPEL - Sheriff's detectives are investigating an unattended death in which a woman's body was found inside a partially-burned home Saturday morning.
Relatives of a 42-year-old woman called the Pasco sheriff's office asking them to check on her welfare after they were unable to reach her, spokesman Doug Tobin said.
Deputies arrived at the woman's home, 6943 Clinton Way, at about 9 a.m. Saturday and were unable to peer inside because the windows were blackened soot, Tobin said.
After forcing their way in, deputies found a deceased woman in an area of the home that had burned.
Pasco Fire and Rescue units, the state Fire Marshal and the sheriff's forensic and major crimes units were all called to the scene. Tobin said detectives were also attempting to determine if there was any foul play involved.
Positive identification of the victim will be made by the Pasco-Pinellas Medical Examiner's Office, most likely on Sunday, Tobin said.
