Tribune handicapper Michael David picks today's races at Tampa Bay Downs:

RACE 1: (10) Sparkling Springs, been facing better; (6) Luna Del Gato, showed improvement in latest; (4) North Point, flashed speed first time here.

RACE 2: (2) Wedding Prospect, sharp prep race for this; (4) Jamacian Girl, Calder invader takes class drop; (3) Friendly Circle, looking for second straight win.

RACE 3: (7) Fearless Folly, second-place finish when four wide; (5) Wonder Who's Right, improving form; (2) Montalcino, stretch runner moves up in class.

RACE 4: (9) Mary Louhana, won last with authority; (7) John's Song, always comes to run; (10) Mandu Genius, will be running best in the stretch.

RACE 5: (5) Island Sky, returns from layoff against soft company; (9) Dry Ice, veteran runner owns seven wins here; (2) Safely Run, on the upswing.

RACE 6: (4) Forli's Con Man, faced tougher in New York; (1) Ouagadougou, in excellent form; (5) Fizzy Pop, strong finish in latest.

RACE 7: (7) D'artagnans'spirit, morning works says he is ready; (4) Dark Cheetah, has back class; (3) Lookinforthesecret, wired field in his return.

RACE 8: (4) Chasing the Song, best races here last season; (7) Flight Navigator, comes here off a solid turf effort at Churchill Downs; (6) Bright Tomorrows, chance for a share at a price.

RACE 9: (12) Dig for Dinner, shipper is a good fit with these; (7) Po Purr E., winner of two out last three; (11) Mysteriousness, mostly seconds and thirds.

RACE 10: (3) He's Hammered, last race his career best; (2) Later Gater, 2-for-2 over this turf course; (1) Scruples In, has speed and the rail a dangerous combination.

RACE 11: (8) Millenniummillions, outside trip in last; (3) Fleet Storm, had race, look out; (5) Spring Hall, likes this track.

COMMON CENTS (today's best bet): (7) D'artagnans'spirit in Race 7-He has been working very fast in the mornings getting ready for his return. The top contender in today's feature race, the Pelican Stakes.
