TAMPA - An Ypsilanti, Mich., woman took a pistol into a Tampa International Airport screening lane Sunday, police say.
The pistol, in a black carry-on bag, was seen by a screener operating an X-ray machine, a criminal arrest affidavit states. The pistol appeared to be functional but was not loaded, and there was no ammunition in the bag, authorities said.
Police arrested Janet Marie Januzzi, 45, on Sunday night. She was charged with carrying a concealed firearm.
Januzzi is not a law enforcement officer or member of the military, the affidavit states. She is a supervisor at the University of Michigan's hospital, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office Web site.
She was released from a Hillsborough County jail early this morning after posting $2,000 bail.
