Blog: Protesters Dog Giuliani | Vote Early | Election 2008
TAMPA - A new Quinnipiac University poll shows a statistical four-way dead heat in the Republican presidential primary in Florida, where Rudy Giuliani is making an all-out effort to win the state.
The poll shows John McCain leading, but by less than the margin of error of the poll, with 22 percent support of likely GOP primary voters. Giuliani, who led the standings in Florida for most of the last half of 2007, comes in second at 20 percent, with Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney at 19 percent each.
The outcome is particularly crucial to Giuliani, who is scarcely competing in the other primary states to date but is staking his campaign on the Florida outcome.
On the Democratic side, the poll shows Hillary Clinton maintaining her long lead in Florida over Barack Obama, 52 percent to Obama's 31 percent, with John Edwards showing at 9 percent.
