Regarding "USF Compromises Integrity Dodging Moffitt Cheating Charge" (Our Opinion, Jan. 9):
This issue is not about football. The Moffitt situation concerns the University of South Florida's integrity now and prevention of future occurrences.
I have followed USF football for 11 years, as have a number of my friends, local business people and USF alumni. They are emphatic that this situation should be tackled now before it festers and grows in a future USF athletic department, where sports revenues grow to mammoth proportions, similar to Gator and Seminole revenues recently reported by the Tribune. College sports are big business.
How? Just use a little common sense. If a professor must institute a complaint, present him with the facts. If he refuses, go over his head. The university must then conduct the investigation in a timely manner.
