TAMPA - Two members of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office Volunteer Citizen Patrol Program are being credited with an arrest Saturday.
Debbie Schwab and Paula Horton were patrolling in the Westchase area and spotted a car at the dead end of Lynmar Boulevard, off Race Track Road. They radioed for a deputy.
Charles Lee Banks, 33, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failure to pay child support, officials said. He was still in jail this morning, with bail set at $4,000.
The Volunteer Citizen Patrol Program, initiated by Sheriff David Gee,
provides extra "eyes and ears" for law enforcement. Volunteers do not act as law-enforcement officers, according to the sheriff's office.
