HORSE CENTS

Tribune handicapper Michael David picks today's races at Tampa Bay Downs:

RACE 1: (5) Mauvalis Coyote, four of her five lifetime wins here; (6) Be a Believer, takes major drop in class to score; (7) Dependability, improving form.

RACE 2: (4) Taxicab, faces a easier field today; (6) Jumby Sky, switch to main track might help; (8) Driftwood Run, dangerous when loose on the lead.

RACE 3: (8) Miss Malakia, last-to-first winner; (7) Queen's Crumpets, nice win, steps up in class; (6) Cruzan Fling, was overmatch in last.

RACE 4: (8) Drinkwater, last race career best;(2) Mining for Silver, finished third in a three way photo; (3) Green Lemon, has back class;

RACE 5: (8) Ashley and I, in terrific current form; (4) Renee's Regent, fits well with these; (2) Awesome Illusion, goes for the hat trick.

RACE 6: (2) Son of Slam, top contender in a soft field; (11) El Gran Tony, well backed in last two starts; (3) You the Man, adding blinkers might move him forward.

RACE 7: (6) Regents Ridge, set to rebound; (2) Ohio's Way, recent winner capable of a repeat performance; (5) Alex Ingram, solid second place finish when returning from a layoff.

RACE 8: (5) Back Up Kim, front runner fits today's sprint distance; (2) Irish Son, workouts says he is ready to return; (9) First of May, back in his element.

RACE 9: (8) Z'bullseye, must respect his early speed; (4) Mr Guska, maiden winner in good form, moves up the ladder; (9) Thiscatcanscat, shipper has talent.

RACE 10: (5) Oasis Storm, showed steady improvement; (11) Arazi Exchange, fresh and dangerous; (1) Asheba's Glitter, a definite possibility.

COMMON CENTS (today's best bet): (8) Drinkwater in Race 4-Made a powerful stretch to win by 6 lengths in his first race over this turf course. A repeat of that effort will make him the one to beat today.
