LAND O' LAKES - Lesley Wade, a biology instructor at Wiregrass Ranch High School, has been selected Pasco County's teacher of the year.
Wade, 31, said she's passionate about biology and enjoys passing along her enthusiasm to her students.
"It's exciting getting to share science with these kids," she said last week before the announcement was made.
Wade was among several people honored Saturday night at the Pasco Education Foundation's annual Education Celebration at River Ridge High School in New Port Richey.
Wade studied microbiology in college and planned to become a doctor before having second thoughts.
Her daughter was entering kindergarten and "being a mom was important timewise," Wade said.
