TAMPA - Chelsea Klotz had a hat trick four minutes into Tampa Prep's 9-0 victory in the Class 2A-District 9 semifinal against Calvary Christian (3-12-1).
It was senior night at Tampa Prep (20-1-1), and the three Terrapins seniors didn't disappoint. Defender Carrie Field scored Tampa Prep's fourth goal, Kerry Alexander picked up a goal and assist in the win and Klotz's three goals in the game gave her 49 goals for the season. Junior midfielder Taylor Richardson had two goals, with Paige Goodwin and Amber Miller each scoring once.
In Tuesday's first semifinal, Cambridge defeated Bishop McLaughlin 3-2.
Eighth-grader Rachel Stephenson got to a ball that was heading out of bounds across the back line and drilled a crisp pass to a waiting Lara Theodore, who scored to give Cambridge (15-6-1) a 2-0 halftime advantage against Bishop McLaughlin (10-3-1). The Hurricanes, however, evened the score with a 35-yard strike from Erica Houseman and Taylor Maramara's shot over the keeper's outstretched hands.
Stephenson broke the stalemate with a goal in the 66th minute after a great cross from senior midfielder Malissa Gallogly.
Cambridge will play Tampa Prep for the title Friday at 7 p.m. at Tampa Prep.

Indian Rocks Christian, Shorecrest Advance
ST. PETERSBURG - Shorecrest Prep and Indian Rocks Christian secured berths in the Class 2A region playoffs next week, advancing to the 2A-District 11 final to be played Friday at Keswick Christian at 7 p.m.
Both schools won their district semifinal matches in shutouts. Shorecrest (13-4-1), the No. 1 seed in the district, beat host Keswick (0-18-1) by a score of 4-0 in the second semifinal game. In the first game, No. 2 seed IRC (11-8) won its match, 5-0, against Northside Christian (2-10).
The winner of Friday's district final will host the runner-up of District 12 on Jan. 24. The loser of Friday's district final will play at the winner of District 12 the same day.
IRC was paced by Ally Raissi, who recorded her third hat trick of the season. Her third goal, which put the Golden Eagles up 4-0, was her 25th of the season. It came in the 23rd minute of the second half, coming from the right side and just clearing the inside of the left post.
It was the Golden Eagles' second win against Northside Christian, and Northside's defense was what IRC coach Joe Raissi expected.
Brooke Davis had two goals for the Chargers against Keswick.
