PARRISH - PARRISH - A man with a badge who confronted and questioned parents and their children at a school bus stop Wednesday was arrested on a charge of impersonating a law enforcement officer.
Terrell Eugene Fitzgerald, 59, of Palmetto walked up to the bus stop about 1:30 p.m. at Foxbrook Trail and Howling Wolf Run, according to Manatee County sheriff's deputies.
The children had just gotten off the bus, authorities said. Fitzgerald displayed a badge and identified himself as a police officer, according to sheriff's reports.
Fitzgerald questioned several parents to get their names and addresses, authorities said.
Fitzgerald, who was not wearing a uniform, appeared to have been drinking, authorities said. The parents were suspicious and called 911. Fitzgerald was arrested several blocks away.
