The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating a deadly car crash in Plant City.
A van traveling north on Forbes Road had stopped at Downing Street at 7:47 a.m. Thursday when a Ford 350 pickup rear-ended it, spokeswoman Vida Morgan said.
A 54-year-old male passenger in the van died. His name has not been released, pending the notification if his family.
Another passenger, Martin Gonzales, 24, was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital in serious condition, and a third passenger, Adel Alfredo, 24, was taken to Southern Florida Baptist Hospital with serious injuries, Morgan said. A fourth passenger, Armando Gomez, 32, was not injured. All three men are from Dover.
The driver of the van, Artisteo R. Vamaca, 35, of Plant City, was not injured. Deputies arrested him at the scene and charged him with driving without a valid driver's license.
The driver of the pickup, Patrick Gene Bailey, 23, of Plant City, has not been charged, but the investigation is continuing, the sheriff's office said.
