PLANT CITY - City Commissioner Bill Dodson has been elected vice chairman of the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council.
Dodson has been Plant City's representative on the council since being elected to the city commission nearly six years ago.
The planning council reviews plans for major developments in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Manatee and Pasco counties, among other duties.
The regional planning council has 40 members, including elected officials and gubernatorial appointees.
Dodson was elected vice chairman on Monday by his fellow planning council members. The vice chairman usually becomes chairman the next year, Dodson said.
