PHILADELPHIA - Daniel Briere scored twice and Kimmo Timonen had a goal and two assists as the Philadelphia Flyers held off Florida 5-3 on Wednesday night, denying Panthers coach Jacques Martin his 500th win.
Simon Gagne and Scott Hartnell also scored for the Flyers, who took a 4-1 lead in the first period. Philadelphia has won two straight, and five of its last six.

RANGERS 2, SABRES 1: Petr Prucha and Brandon Dubinsky each had a goal and an assist to lift the Rangers to a victory that stretched Buffalo's losing streak to 10 games.

Buffalo snapped its run of three straight shootout losses, but still couldn't find a way to win.

ISLANDERS 3, DEVILS 1: Rick DiPietro had 37 saves and Bill Guerin scored two goals to lead New York to a victory against New Jersey, its fifth win in as many games this season against them.

BLACKHAWKS 6, BLUES 1: Rookie Patrick Kane had two goals and an assist, and Patrick Lalime made 32 saves for Chicago.

Dustin Byfluglien had a goal and two assists for Chicago, which won its second straight following an eight-game losing streak.

FLAMES 3, WILD 2: Jarome Iginla shrugged off a slow night to score the winning goal in the shootout for Calgary. Iginla's 24 goals against the Wild are 10 more than the next closest opponent.
