HUDSON - Biblical prophecy expert Jimmy DeYoung will speak at three Grace Bible Church services Sunday.
Several congregants who volunteer at the Word of Life Fellowship's local complex heard DeYoung was appearing there. So Grace's pastor, the Rev. Dean Pratt, contacted the DeYoung ministry and made the arrangements.
"Several members of my congregation have seen DeYoung on television or heard him on the radio," Pratt said. "We're excited to have him come to address our congregation."
He will speak during worship at 8:30 and 10:50 a.m. and 6 p.m. A fellowship hour with refreshments will follow the evening service.
DeYoung lived in Jerusalem for 12 years as a fully credentialed journalist. He arrived three days before the 1991 Persian Gulf War and weathered 39 Scud missile attacks.
He reported for several networks during the war and has interviewed Middle Eastern leaders. They include former Israeli Prime Ministers Ariel Sharon and Benjamin Netanyahu, former Foreign Minister Shimon Peres, former Defense Minister Moshe Arens, Jerusalem Mayor Ehud Olmert. He also interviewed Jordanian Foreign Minister Marwan Muasher; and the late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, according to jimmy deyoung.gospelcom.net.
DeYoung also founded the Bible-preaching Assembly at Jerusalem.
After graduating from Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, DeYoung joined Jack Wyrtzen and Harry Bollback at Word of Life Fellowship in Schroon Lake, N.Y. He spent the next 12 years there in several capacities, including staff evangelist, host of Word of Life Inn and radio show producer.
For the next five years, he was vice president and general manager of WNYM, New York City's first Christian radio station, and hosted a daily talk program, the Web site says.
He also is known for being a speaker at conferences in the United States, Europe and South America; writing the book "Sound the Trumpets" and monitoring events in the Middle East and comparing them to biblical prophecies.
