BRANDON - Coming off a 41-point performance against King on Friday, Brandon senior guard Blake Allen led the Eagles with 30 points in a 79-63 win over Armwood in a Class 5A-District 8 boys basketball game on Tuesday.

"It just felt like everything was in sync," Allen said.

"He's just a great shooter," Brandon coach Mark Hermann said. "If he's not one of the top two guards in (Hillsborough) county, then I don't know. He can create for himself."

University of Tampa commit Marcus Morrison added 17 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks while senior guard Tarron Stewart finished with 15 points.

Senior guard Adam Sollazzo led the Hawks (12-7, 8-4) with 17 points, six assists and seven rebounds while junior Rashad Davis added 15, all off 3-point shots.

Brandon led 53-48 after the third quarter, but used a 13-2 run to earn a double digit lead into the fourth. Allen scored 17 points in the second half, which included four 3-pointers.

"Blake Allen was on fire," Armwood coach Jeff Pafunda said. "We played a box-and-one, we played everything, and we couldn't stop him."

Armwood senior guard Jared Paul averaged 14.7 points per game going into Tuesday's game but was limited to five points.

"They did a good job shutting him down," Pafunda said.

Brandon (14-4, 10-2) entered the contest in first of the district standings while Armwood was one game behind at second.

"Coach told us it'd be better going into districts as the number one seed," Allen said.

With the win, Brandon needs one more district victory to clinch the top seed for the district tournament.

"The number one seed is still up for grabs," Hermann said.

The Eagles' remaining district games are at Newsome tonight and at Freedom on Friday, when Brandon 6-foot-8 power forward and Boston College commit Evan Ravenel returns from a three-week suspension.

"(Ravenel) has been working hard," Hermann said. "He's done his time and he's ready to come back. The other guys have stepped up in his absence."
