TAMPA - Police charged a Temple Terrace man and his teenage son with felony burglary and other charges after officers found them removing aluminum screens from a vacant house.
James C. Davis, 54, and his 18-year-old son, Jelani, were each held at Orient Road Jail today on $5,000 bail, records show.
Tampa police arrested them about 2 p.m. Monday after a neighbor reported they were dismantling the screens surrounding a swimming pool at 109210 N. 15th St. Police said the house is vacant and currently for sale by a mortgage company.
Police said the Davises told investigators they thought they could take the aluminum for scrap. Scrap aluminum is worth about 62 cents per pound in sheets, police said.
