Prevention magazine thinks it has hit the busy woman's trifecta with its new "Shortcuts to Big Weight Loss" book and DVD by Chris Freytag. (The paperback from Rodale retails at $21.95; the DVD is $14.95. You can buy both on amazon.com for $27.92.)
The set targets weight loss — a big hook to folks this time of year. But it uses two other magnets to pull you in: It aims to help you tone up AND provide shortcuts in doing so.
Though the set claims to help people lose 25 pounds or more, it's not a cookbook or detailed eating plan. Instead, it aims to help users organize a schedule, eat better with "clean eating shortcuts," and squeeze in fast fat-burning exercise sessions every day of the week.
The program is geared toward women who have no time to dissect a diet plan. Readers are directed to photocopy weight-loss fitness logs.
List lovers will identify with it. Those who hate rules may feel too restricted.
Page after page of 10-minute exercises are listed in easy-to-read charts, and photos accompany many of the exercises. The DVD helps even more, walking exercise-phobic types through 10-minute shape-up workouts for belly, butt and thighs.
