Amy Winehouse, beset by allegations of substance abuse, entered a rehabilitation facility Thursday to battle drug addiction.
The announcement came just days after the 24-year-old singer was pictured in British tabloid The Sun inhaling fumes from a small pipe. Police have launched an inquiry into the matter.
"Amy decided to enter the facility today after talks with her record label, management, family and doctors," Universal Music Group said in a statement.
Winehouse, who is nominated for six Grammy Awards for her acclaimed "Back to Black" album, seems to be as famous for her drug problems as for her music. Since the album's U.S. release last year, she has canceled a slew of appearances amid reports of drug use.
Ledger's Family Arrives Today For Funeral
Funeral arrangements for Heath Ledger have been completed and his relatives were expected to arrive in New York today, a funeral home spokesman said.
George Amado, the general manager of the Frank E. Campbell funeral home, refused to disclose details, saying any additional information would have to come from Ledger's manager.
The 28-year-old actor's body was taken to the funeral home on Manhattan's Upper East Side on Wednesday, a day after he was found dead in his SoHo loft with bottles of prescription drugs nearby.
There were six different types of prescription drugs in the apartment, including pills to treat insomnia and anxiety, and an antihistamine, according to two law enforcement officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing.
Before moving to Manhattan, Ledger lived with then-girlfriend Michelle Williams - who played his wife in "Brokeback Mountain" - in Brooklyn. The couple had a daughter, the now 2-year-old Matilda. The couple split last year. Williams and Matilda have returned from Sweden, where Williams has been filming "Mammoth."
