TAMPA - Sheriff's detectives are investigating a series of robberies that have taken place in eastern Hillsborough County businesses since November.
Detectives said they think the man who robbed a McDonald's today at 5100 U.S. 41 N. in Ruskin is the same person who has targeted gas stations, pharmacies and other restaurants in Apollo Beach, Gibsonton, Riverview and the Sun City Center since Nov. 7.
The suspect is described as a white male in his 30s, about 6 feet tall, with a large build, a pot belly, blond hair and a fair complexion. He was last seen wearing a camouflage jacket with a hood and camouflage pants, hat and gloves.
In each of the robberies, the robber enters the business and either displays a knife or implies that he is armed, the sheriff's office said. After demanding money and receiving the cash, he leaves the business on foot, detectives said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at (813) 247-8200 or Crime Stoppers at (800) 873-8477.
