The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says the incident occurred after Deputy Jeffrey Catlin parked his cruiser just before 10 p.m. Thursday on the east side of 15th Street while assisting another deputy. Canfield sideswiped his car, causing about $750 in damage, and then fled, authorities said.
Catlin stopped her about three-quarters of a mile away at 131st Avenue and Key Largo Road. Catlin reported Canfield had red, watery eyes, slurred speech and the odor of alcohol on her breath. Canfield also had 55 Valium pills in a prescription bottle with a conflicting label and 52 Flexural pills, for which she did not have a prescription, the sheriff's office said.
Canfield failed a field sobriety test and was taken to the Orient Road Jail, where she is being held on $3,000 bail, authorities said.
