Tribune handicapper Michael David picks today's races at Tampa Bay Downs:

RACE 1: (5) Salty 'n' Ruthless, showed improvement in last; (9) Lido's Legacy, can overcome tough post; (1a) Dylan's Choice, disappointed as the favorite, can make amends.

RACE 2: (1) Southbound Lane, moves way down in class; (6) Lookslikelightnin, has early speed; (10) Bold 'n' Trashy, good fit with this group.

RACE 3: (7) Turntwo, solid effort in Tampa debut; (4) Syndicate Road, loves this track; (3) Carvajal, front-runner had race over, should be fitter today.

RACE 4: (8) Sneak Me In, meets maiden claimer for the first time; (1) Spoiled Royality, second-place finish when returning from a layoff; (3) Trade Me, brings speed to the mix.

RACE 5: (1) Ravishing Ruby, recent winner drew off nicely; (2) Seducing Mr. G, class drop will help; (6) Hands Wavering, usually around the money.

RACE 6: (5) J Beth Player, just missed in latest; (4) Angelic Wonder, showing more life lately; (2) Proper N Prim, only win at this track.

RACE 7: (9) Trippi's Dream, shipper returns in a soft spot; (8) Classy Kelly, stretch runner can handle these; (11) Chris's Joy, give her one more chance.

RACE 8: (8) Couple Whiles, has never been in better form; (10) Early Hatch, best races have been on the lawn; (3) Jaunty Gale, chance for a minor share.

RACE 9: (7) Miltos Express, last race her best; (3) L's Lightning, will play try and catch me; (6) Super Slash, good in the money record.

RACE 10: (4) Starlight Serenade, finished second despite trouble; (8) Bridled Quest, impressive winner of his last two; (9) Judith's Lake, first start for new barn.

RACE 11: (8) Luna Del Gato, big try in defeat; (4) Chop Slewy, could benefit from today's shorter distance; (3) Flying Excess, fast works for return.

COMMON CENTS (today's best bet): (7) Miltos Express in Race 9 - Came from just off the pace to blow by most of today's rivals by eight lengths. A repeat of that effort will find her in the winner circle again today.
