PORT RICHEY - A man suspected of robbing a bank in Hernando County has been charged with attempting to rob one here.
James Vourlos, 46, was booked into the Land O' Lakes Jail late Thursday on a charge of attempted robbery after being taken into custody by police in Brooksville, according to a Pasco County Sheriff's Office arrest report.
Vourlos was arrested in Hernando County after a May 15 bank heist and was brought here Thursday at the behest of the state attorney's office, sheriff's office spokesman Doug Tobin said.
Vourlos is accused of entering the BB&T Bank on U.S. 19 in Port Richey on May 14 and passing a note to a teller, the report states.
The note stated the robber had a gun and wanted $10 and $20 bills, the sheriff's office report states. However, Vourlos is said to have fled empty-handed before the teller was able to retrieve any money, the report said.
Vourlos remained in custody Friday with bail set at $50,000 on the second-degree felony charge, jail records state.
