TAMPA - Jeremy Black had a team-high 11 points and nine rebounds in only 16 minutes of playing time Saturday, leading the University of Tampa men's team to a 76-47 victory over Palm Beach Atlantic at the Bob Martinez Center.
The Spartans (12-4), who never trailed, built a double-digit advantage within seven minutes. They led 39-18 at halftime.
UT, which had a 43-30 rebounding edge on the Sailfish (2-18), used 13 players.
Johnathan Ball (10 points) was the only other UT player in double figures. Mounir Benzegala came off the bench to lead UT in assists with a career-high seven.
SAINT LEO 78, BARRY 72: Sophomore forward Jordan Prais scored a game-high 22 points, leading Saint Leo (8-9, 2-5 Sunshine State Conference) past host Barry (6-13, 0-6).
Dusty Driggs (15 points on five 3-pointers) and Jesuit High product Thomas Kaiser (11 points) also scored in double figures for the Lions.
Woodard, Ridley Pace UT Women To Victory
TAMPA - Erica Woodard scored 18 points and senior Brittany Ridley added a career-high 14, and the University of Tampa women rolled to a 67-57 win against Palm Beach Atlantic.
The Spartans (14-3) and Sailfish (1-21) were tied at 29 at halftime, but UT opened the second half with a 15-4 run.
Woodard grabbed 11 rebounds for her third double-double of the season. Sheena Walton led Tampa with 13 rebounds, and Alexa Kane scored all of her 11 points in the second half.
BARRY 51, SAINT LEO 46: A second-half rally fell short as Saint Leo (8-10, 1-6 SSC) lost to host Barry (13-5, 4-3) despite a season-high 15 points from junior Nichole Tyler.
Twelve of Tyler's points came after halftime as the Lions nearly erased a 15-point deficit.
