PINELLAS PARK - Authorities are looking for two 14-year-old boys they say made a bogus bomb threat today from a pay telephone outside the gym at Pinellas Park High School.
The threat prompted the evacuation of the school at 10:30 a.m., and students were outside for 70 minutes, said Capt. Sanfield Forseth of the Pinellas Park Police Department.
One of the teens dialed 911 and said he was going to blow up the school, and then the dispatcher noticed he had left the line open, Forseth said. The call was traced to the phone outside the gym, Forseth said.
Administrators and police used surveillance camera footage to identify the students, Forseth said. Both teenagers were recorded approaching the phone, with one of them using it and then dropping it without hanging it up, Forseth said.
Forseth declined to identify them because they had not been taken into custody.
