TAMPA - An electrical short sparked a fire in a Hyde Park house today, resulting in at least $75,000 in damage, Tampa Fire Rescue said.
No one was injured in the blaze at about 12:07 p.m. at 203 S. Audubon Ave.
Renter Jeff Chilver, 31, told investigators he was home when someone banged on the front door, saying smoke was coming from the attic. Chilver and at least one other person exited safely, firefighters said.
Fire crews had the blaze under control about 12:56 p.m. Investigators determined an electrical short in the attic space started the fire.
