DURHAM, N.C. - Candace Parker's leaner with 22 seconds remaining lifted No. 2 Tennessee past No. 9 Duke 67-64 on Monday night, snapping the Blue Devils' 24-game home winning streak.
Parker led the Lady Vols (18-1) with 17 points, but briefly gave Duke hope with 3.4 seconds left when she missed the first of two free throws that would have iced it.
After she sank her second attempt, Duke (15-5) inbounded to Chante Black, and she hesitated while looking for sharpshooter Abby Waner, and Waner's 65-foot heave harmlessly hit the rim.
Duke never led in the second half but tied it four times.
OHIO ST. 89, PENN ST. 53: Jantel Lavender scored 22 points and No. 19 Ohio State used a first-half burst to zip past Penn State, handing Coach Jim Foster his 650th career victory.
Marscilla Packer added 12 points and seven assists, and Ashlee Trebilcock had 11 points for the Buckeyes (16-4, 7-2 Big Ten).
Foster ran his record to 650-261 (.714) in 30 seasons, making him the 13th coach to win that many games in Division I. He previously coached at Vanderbilt and Saint Joseph's.
